A natural hair regimen for growth is very popular amongst natural hair women and with many different hair types, each woman has to do what works best for her. So I have decided to include the natural hair regimen for growth I use and what works best for me. After doing some research on YouTube, I have decided to only use natural products such as avocado, Coconut Oil and Organic Shea Butter in my hair. So if I can’t eat it, I’m not using it (except for shampoo – I use Shea Moisture Shampoo).
As for my hair type, I am 4a. I originally thought my hair type was 4c but after becoming more familiar with my natural hair, I realized it was actually 4a. Below is an actual picture of my natural hair straightened and trimmed. I have about 2 more inches until I am full bra strap length. Read below for my regimen.
Daily Protective Styles – I tend to wear a lot of wigs and Senegalese twists. I wear wigs because I can wear different hairstyles, lengths and colors while protecting my natural hair underneath. This has helped my hair tremendously.
Shampoo – As previously stated, I use Shea Moisture Shampoo for my natural hair. Obviously, this shampoo isn’t edible but I felt it was my next best option. It does have natural products in it such as; shea butter, aloe vera and avocado so it does a great job at moisturizing my hair considering a lot of shampoos strip my 4a natural hair.
Deep Conditioner – For my deep conditioner, I use my home made avocado hair mask. This mask works wonders on my hair and it also does a great job at moisturizing my hair. Previously, I used store bought deep conditioners and my hair never felt moisturized afterwards which led to a lot of tangles and hair loss. But once I started using the avocado hair mask, I noticed an instant change.
Daily Products – Each day I use water, coconut oil and shea butter to moisturize my hair. I also use Jamaican Black Castor Oil on my edges and scalp to promote hair growth. This stuff has helped my edges tremendously.
Vitamins (Internal) – Each day I take 5,000 mg of Biotin and 2 Hairfinity pills. If you decide to take these pills, I have 1 piece of advice…INCREASE your water intake like never before. If you hate water, please DO NOT take these vitamins because your skin will pay a hefty price. Due to the level of potency in these pills, you have to increase your water intake in order to flush out the ‘extra’. I learned my lesson so now I try to drink 4 bottles of water each day.
This natural hair regimen works extremely well for me. What are some of the things that are working well for you in your natural hair regimen? Please include in the comments below.
