What Do You Wear to a Christening?

Dedicating a child’s life back to God is something that should be taken seriously. As a general rule of thumb, your attire for a christening should be less formal than what you would wear to a wedding, but more formal than what you would wear for a casual lunch. Confused? The exact outfit you wear will depend upon a number of different things, including the season and weather, but here are a few suggestions you might want to try:

  • A dress that is not too revealing or short
  • A skirt with a blouse and jacket
  • A pretty shrug or cardigan (Churches can be cold at any time of year!)
  • A statement necklace to jazz up a plainer outfit.

Christenings are happy occasions, so bright colors are encouraged! Just as a wedding, you don’t want to draw too much attention to you since the special occassion is about the child, the parents and God parents so you may want to consider wearing something modest. I have included a few dresses that you may want to consider for the christening below. Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions, please leave it in the comments below.
